Low visibility conditions at La Ceiba airport cancels CAL’s Honduras flights

Reduced visibility caused by smoke, resulted in the Goloson International Airport in La Ceiba, Honduras, being rendered inoperable until further notice by Honduras’ civil aviation officials on Friday May 17, 2024. This forced the cancellation of Cayman Airways’ La Ceiba flight KX882 which was scheduled to depart Grand Cayman at 1pm, and KX883 which was scheduled to depart La Ceiba at 2:40pm. As a result of the ongoing uncertainty regarding when visibility will return to safe levels for flight operations, Cayman Airways is in the process of scheduling additional flights to transport affected passengers on Tuesday May 21, 2024, weather permitting. Affected passengers will be contacted directly by Cayman Airways when updates become available, or they may call Cayman Airways Reservations on 345-949-2311 or 800-2791-9422 (toll free in Honduras). Cayman Airways apologizes for any inconvenience caused to passengers as a result of visibility conditions in La Ceiba, which are beyond the airline’s control.
